What does a chigre have that other places don’t? 🇬🇧
Sure, from the outside they might look the same — but no, a chigre is a whole different story.
Any regular bar will serve you whatever you order, but in a chigre… they’ll teach you how to drink cider the proper way. There’s no glass filled to the brim here, no artificial bubbles. Here, it’s all about the culín, the escanciado, and that “¡puxa!” the bartender shouts as the cider falls from half a meter above.
In a chigre you’re never sitting alone:
If there’s an empty table, you share it.
If there’s a conversation, you join in.
And if there’s a plate of chorizo in cider making the rounds… well, you might end up tasting it even if you didn’t order it.
Another thing: in a chigre there’s always something going on. An impromptu espicha, a local telling old stories, or someone teaching a tourist how to pour cider and splashing half the bar (but everyone claps anyway).
In short: a chigre isn’t just a place to eat and drink…
It’s a piece of Asturias in every sip, a place where you leave with more friends than you had when you came in, and probably with the urge to come back tomorrow.
📍 Drop by Chigre — here, you’re not just a customer: you’re part of the family.
